The Sound of the Mountains
Hundreds of years ago the Ynkas divided our far-flung country into four regions
and gave the melodious name Tawantin Suyo. It means "TheKingdom with Four
Quarters." This four regions have different contrasts as sharp as can be seen in
other places on earth. There is a mountain world, with peaks so high they bow
only to the Himalayas; a desert world, full of life and mysteries, such as the "Nazca
Lines" rich in relics of ancient wisdom; a world of cold seas boiling with
multitudes of gigantic and tiny fish; and finally a green paradise of jungle,
where Natives (Runa) crowned in toucan feathers hunt with blowguns and poison
darts. Cozco is the cent er of the Ynka empire. Tawantinsuyo combines enormous
mountains, the sacred city of Machu Pichu and Tiawanaku archeological riches,
the highest navigable lake in the world and more Natives than in any other
country on the continent. It is in the hills and valleys of this mountains where
the music of Ynka Nan borned . Pan flutes, flutes and the colorful charango are
the soul of the Andean Music. Here we are to bring you our mountains, lakes,
rivers, valleys and jungle in the music and instruments of our people as a
message of salutation and friendship.
This S ite is dedicated to all the people who made possible to
continue this difficult but rewarding work: Here is some comments that I
keep deep in my heart and one that continue to read to encourage my self in
my daily life. Dr. Miguel Lema
